Aranui Cave:
This cave is a "dry" cave, totally different to the Main Glowworm Cave. As a dry cave without a river running through it, it houses very little life past its entrance. However, just inside the entrance is a colony of native New Zealand cave wetas and further into the cave is the most beautiful collection of stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and decorative formations.
Aranui is a magical, mystical place that is steeped in Maori myth and legend. As such, it occupies a very special place in the hearts of the people of the Waitomo district. Visit soon to see the richly varied cave formations within close-up view and enjoy an experience you will never forget.
Billy Black's Pioneer Farm Show:
Billy Black's NZ Pioneer Farm Show is one of those iconic New Zealand experiences of a life time! Hosted by the legendary "Billy Black" or one of his team, it will leave you in fits of laughter as you watch or even participate in anything from log sawing & log explosions to helping shear the sheep. Farm animals and working sheep dogs on a farming scene complete this unique story.
Angora Rabbits:
New Zealand's only angora rabbit shearing show!! (possibly just as well, we hear some of you say). Discover the unique experience of cuddling white German angora rabbits and watch the shearing show. The shop specialises in angora fibre products from knitting yarns through to super soft angora sweaters and small goods. This option is entirely free but we keep it optional so as to give you choice as to how to spend your time.
Otorohanga Kiwi House:
Without a doubt, one of the best places in all NZ to see the famous flightless Kiwi bird. The Kiwi House and native bird park in Otorohanga, New Zealand is owned and operated by the Otorohanga Zoological Society, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of New Zealand's native wildlife through education, display and breeding programs. A great programme to support and a fantastic place to view the Kiwi close up.
