NZ Tours - Auckland 1 day

Auckland, City of Sails, one of the finest cities in the world. In Maori language, Auckland is known as Tamaki Makau Rau, the city of 100 lovers. Auckland earned this name because it was a place desired by all and conquered by many.

It is an amazing city, boasting 3 harbours, 2 mountain ranges, 48 volcanic cones and more than 50 islands.  Our trip today gives you an introductory overview of the city, taking you into the heart of the downtown area, to the Viaduct Basin where the Americas Cup sailing race was held; past Kelly Tarltons to the beaches of Mission Bay and up to the top of Mount Eden for spectacular 360 degree views of the city.  Our tour can be combined with any of the following options:

Sky Tower

At 328 metres Sky Tower is the tallest tower in the Southern Hemisphere (and taller than the Eiffel Tower), offering breath-taking views for more than 80 kilometres in every direction. No trip to Auckland is quite complete without taking the journey to the near top ... And, by the way, did you know that Sky Tower weighs 21 million kilos (20,000 tonnes) which is equivalent to 6,000 elephants.

Devonport Ferry

Devonport is a charming historic seaside village, on the northern shores of Auckland City, only 10 minutes by ferry from downtown Auckland. Enjoy the spectacular views of the city as you cross the Waitemata Harbour to get there. The first ferry to cross the harbour in 1860 was a row boat taking just 16 people. Soon after the "Emu" a paddle steamer was used, but sank the same year. Today the "Kea" makes 31 sailings a day.

Kelly Tarltons

Kelly Tarlton's, one of Auckland's most famous attractions is a wonderland of snow, ice and amazing underwater sights. Explore the wilds of Antarctica and the natural treasures of the ocean depths in our Underwater World - and beyond.

Auckland Museum

Nowhere else in New Zealand you can so quickly and so compellingly be introduced to the people of New Zealand and the Pacific, and the remarkable flora, fauna and geography of these islands. From the Museum's pre-eminent colleciton of Maori and Pacific treasures, to our original World War Two aircraft, this is a highlights tour of not-to-be-missed national and international treasures.

Auckland Museum + Maori Cultural Performance

In addition to a guided Museum visit, experience the warm hospitality of the Maori cultural performance group. The performers are the face of Ngati Whatua O Orakei, the home tribe (tangata whenua) of Auckland - Tamaki Makaurau - and through them you can experience a taste of Maori culture. The show includes a welcome dance, poi dance, stick game, weaponry display and a haka.

Stardome Planetarium

Situated in Auckland's One Tree Hill Domain, the "Stardome" Planetarium, is New Zealand's leading astronomical attraction. Here, you can experience the southern skies at any time day or night, rain or shine.
