English Courses - Activities

Our activities are fun, interactive and confidence building, helping students improve their English language skills. This kind of learning complements the learning in the classroom. We arrange activities to suit interests, seasons and budgets. Our list currently includes: kayaking; horse riding; surfing; boogie boarding; bike riding; bush walking; golf; pottery; cooking; art classes (painting, mosaic, drawing etc.); flax weaving; beach sports; basketball; football; tennis; harbour cruise; fishing; farm visit; music; dance; drama; community radio; photography; picnics; Specialist environmental activities include worm farming, recycling tour, eco-housing tour; tree planting, organic farm tour; visit to the local Environment Centre and others.

The lists just keep on growing.

E-Tours - Kayaking   

Kayaking

Great fun on the water! Full tuition - easy to do. Get to see Raglan frm the water and cross to the other side of the harbour to see the Pancake Rocks.  Everyone just loves to kayak. No petrol required!

 

E-Tours - Horse Riding  

Horse Riding

Get up in the saddle and ride. A whole new way of seeing the NZ countryside. We use Magic Mountain professional horse treks, near Raglan; Karamu and Pirongia treks near Hamilton.  Go, horse power!

E-Tours - Weaving  

Weaving ("Harakeke")

Weaving is a really important part of Maori culture. From shoes, to bags to cloaks, you name it you can make it out of flax or "harakeke" - a strong plant seen everywhere in New Zealand. Learn the "tikanga" or customs which go along with weaving, such as the "karakia" or prayers made to ask permission of the plant to be cut.

Bring out your creative side - get stuck right in and work that clay! Raglan is home to many potters and artists, one of whom will help you learn new skills at the Raglan Clay Shed. Make something beautiful to take home and have a lot of fun!

E-Tours - Marae  

Marae

No trip to New Zealand ("Aotearoa") is complete without a visit to a Marae, a central focal point for local Maori. Experience a "powhiri" or welcome; learn about some of the customs and protocols; be entertained by "kapa haka" or action songs and meet the local "whanau" or families. A truly special place to be. Overnight visits and hangi dinners available on request.

Feel the thrill of riding the ocean waves. Full lessons guaranteed to get you up and going in 1 session. Raglan is home to the world's best left hand break, the famous Raglan Surfing School and some of the best known surfers in NZ.  Don't miss this  chance to live the life ... All equipment and wetsuits provided.  Wave power.

Take to a different kind of saddle - see the sights. In Raglan we use Bike 2 Bay, whose bikes have been specially adapted for road and off-road conditions. Lots of pedal power required.

 E-Tours - Recycled Raft Race  

Lucky Dip

This is where we do things spontaneously - stuff that come up and is just too good to miss.  Raglan's fun Recycled Raft Race; local Sheep Shearing contests; festivals; Maori celebrations and sporting events are just some of the things that add extra spice to your NZ E-Tours experience.  Who knows what will be next..?
